Planning is underway for our 2027 retreat!
With rising costs in mind, we’ve decided to take a different approach to next year’s retreat. Rather than our traditional hotel venue and guest speaker, we’re planning a more affordable writer’s weekend away. The focus will be on writing, creativity, and spending time with fellow writers in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
We hope you’ll join us for a weekend of inspiration, camaraderie, and plenty of writing time!

The Michigan Romance Writer’s 2027 Retreat From Harsh Reality will be April 23-25 at the beautiful Kellogg Manor House, summer home of cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg in Hickory Corners, MI. Built in 1926, it was originally called Eagle Heights and faces the calm, blue waters of Gull Lake. What a perfect site for us to get back to our writing retreat origins. The weekend will be planned with the main focus on writing, and a smidgeon of learning and socializing with other writers. Please bookmark this page to follow as specific details develop.
2026 in Photos
On Saturday night we enjoyed a nice dinner and dessert, afterwards we had a member recognition presentation (see video slide show above – thank you to Diana Lloyd), we also announced the newest Angel Award for Service to the group. The 2025 recipient was Brynn Paulin.
Presented by the 2024 Angel, Patty Gordon. Brynn was unable to attend so we sent her a message to let her know and she will receive her certificate and angel pin at next month’s meeting.
